Pre-Vis Update

Been working on a new rough pre-vis with all the scenes in it along with voice over and some sound as well. Sounds were created using De Chirico's brother's soundscape as well as the harp. I've also added in a slight rumble in the background by speeding up certain bits of the soundscape

Girl and Hoop Test Animation

After talking to Jolanta, she recommended animating the girl and her hoop by key framing the pivot in the right place. Above is a short animation I did testing how it would look. Although it looks effective, I think I need some joints in there simply to make the legs bend slightly as well as some squash and stretch on the hoop.

Project Title Ideas

Having spoken to Phil about ideas for a title for my project, he suggested finding a quote which describes De Chirico's world. At the end of my voice over De Chirico states “To become truly immortal, a work of art must escape all human limits: logic and common sense will only interfere. But once these barriers are broken, it will enter the realms of childhood visions and dreams…” Using this as a basis I've tried coming up with some titles which use certain aspects of the quote
  • De Chirico: Escaping Human Limits
  • De Chirico: Escaping Logic and Common Sense
  • De Chirico: The World of Childhood Visions and Dreams
  • De Chirico: Vision and Dreams
  • De Chirico: To Become Immortal

    @ Alan Projection Help (again)

I'm having trouble again with the projection. I've rendered from the camera I created to get the perspective right but it looks as if nothing matches again.

The Mystery and Melanchony of a Street

Apologies for the lack of blog posts for the past few weeks. However I'm not dead. Below are some more models I've created.

Although I did model this scene before, it was using the default Maya camera and therefore the models looked too abstract and extreme. Rather than spend hours with trying to re arrange them to fit the new camera, I felt it'd be quicker to simply re model the scene. I aim to finish this scene and have the UV's laid out before the presentation so I can create an up to date pre vis to see if everything works.

    De Chirico- Projections

After spending a few days laying out UV's I can now start attempting to texture my scene. After talking to Alan he showed me how to use projections to texture certain sections of my scene. Below is a render from the practice scene. The resolution is wrong I know, I need to change it.

Below are some renders from the scene I've laid the UV's out of and have started to use the projections. The geometry needs to be tweaked to fit the image. When everything is correctly in place I will then bake the texture.

I will be going back in and finding ways to texture other sections as well as the projection will only work form angle.

    Modeling- The ground Plane

Finsihed modeling my first De Chirico painting. However it still isn't quite finished as I've got to add in the gorund plane. This is proving rather tricky as, as can be seen the painting is not based upon reality.

After talking to Alan on friday, he showed me a way in which I can add a ground plane. As the painting doesn't abide by reality I need to match up my ground plane first. He recomended I create a camera ot use instead of the inbuilt ones in Maya. This way I can get my perspective right. By experimenting with the focal lengh and overscan settings. Below is what I hope is a balence between reality and De Chirico's painting.
