The Lovely Bones

Saw 'The Lovely Bones' today. The story is about a girl who is murdered and watches over her family and how things around her change slowly in her absence. The effects in this film is great. The music was moving, the acting believable and the storyline heart warming. I never cry during films and only 1 or 2 have ever made me do so and only 1 which has made me cry every time I watch it. I only saw this film once made me cry twice. This was because a mixture of acting, background music and visual effects really hit me emotionally. I now wish to read the book just to see what was the same and what was different about the film and be able to compare.

Overall I recommend it. That's if yo like sweet, heartwarming films.

  1. Hey Charlotte,

The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold has one of the GREAT opening paragraphs - what literary agents and publishers refer to as 'the hook' - as someone who has worked hard to ensure his own opening chapter has a hook that will draw readers in, I can only admire Sebold's audacity. You should the read the book - but I thought it had a weak 3rd Act... (but, like I said, it's hard to match that opening)...

  2. I loved the book! I haven't seen the film...I was worried that it wouldn't live up to my expectations...

  3. Phill: Yes, I really want to read the book. I'll
keep an eye out when I do for the strong opening.

Jackie: My friend Eleanor has read the book and she enjoyed the film to. She said it was pretty acurate to it more or less. The only thing they apparently missed out was the explantion with the icicles. But I think it not only would have been hard to portray the idea behind them but also not entirely relivant.
